Default Scuffing Rear Fender...HELP

My stock passenger seat is scuffing the clear coat on my rear fender. I tried a piece of felt but it did not work. Does anyone have any suggestions for avoiding this other than buying a new seat? I ride solo 90% of the time and use a solo seat with no fender bib so the fender is exposed. Thanks.

Anything that is placed directly on the paint will make an impact, the goal is to minimize it. I find that a piece of Rug under the seat does a better job by minimizing the contact area. Another thing I have done in the past is to put a good heavy coat of wax on under the seat. Any movement helps to buff it off at that point. Make sure you polish out the damage before trying anything else. The edges left from the damage are easier to turn into long term damage than a nice smooth surface.

I used a piece of a sheepswool cleaning mitt on my last bike in between the seat and fender. I was not using the stock seat (had a Mustang), but it worked for me. The stock seat may fit tighter than the Mustang I was using but it worked for me. Another thought I had but didn't try was a piece of rubber car tire inner tube. Hope this helps.

Hey Toby- check around town, and see if anyone applies those clear car bras. I believe the product is made by 3M. I got the top of my bobtail fender covered for about $20 locally.

Beau, the entire fender, or just the area under the passenger seat?

I too recommend the 3M product. It is clear, easy to apply and you can peel it off anytime you want. I bought a kit for my SG before and 8k trip this summer and I've decided to leave it on until the day I go to sell it. Really absorbs small rocks and the like. See this link:

Cant really see it unless you closely inspect:

From my ecm almost all the way to the tail light, and almost down to the fender struts. It keeps the fender from being scuffed by my Badlander seat, and also protects the fender from my T-Bags.
