Default Tire wear

2009 flstf i got almost 11k on my first rear tire I replaced it with tge Dunlop d205 I am at 6k and am ready for a new rear again. I was under the impression the compound was harder than the stock 407. My original I ran at37-39 psi but the 205 doesn't have a suggested psi on side wall my local Harley dealer was runing it at 25 but only had a inch and half wear pat. So I went to 20 and have about 3 inch pat but I was to late does any one have suggestion on sir press riding style or just change brands I like the cost of the 205. I need help I ride every day 320 miles a week and can't afford tire every six k

+1 on that! With only 20 psi in the rear, your bike must handle like a pig!

From Dunlop's website:
http://www.dunlopmotorcycle.com/info....asp?id=31#tip
... Riders of motorcycles with significantly underinflated and overloaded tires will experience handling
and steering difficulty. In addition, this abuse will result in disappointing premature tire wear
and may cause catastrophic tire failure ...

For touring motorcycle loading, follow these general guidelines:
Light loads-single rider with some luggage (up to 200 lb. total)-minimum tire pressure of 32 psi front and
36 psi rear must be maintained.
Heavier loads-dual riding and/or luggage (from 200 lb. total up to maximum motorcycle capacity stated
in the owner's manual)-pressure of 36 psi front and 40 psi rear must be maintained.
Please Note:
For any dual riding or fully loaded use, 40 psi must be maintained in all Dunlop rear tires fitted to touring motorcycles.

I run the factory stock Dunlops on mine with the pressure at about 36 or so.
Getting about 9 or 10 thou.

Hmmm.... I have almost 11K in a year on my Fatboy. Run mostly 2-up. My tires seem to have plenty of tread on them. is there something I'm missing, or is it just because it's only been 1 year?

I agree with all said but I haven't come to a reason why I have gotten half the life out of a better tire and my riding style hasn't changed I have been riding less two up and been front braking a lot more. I put the psi to 39 and rolled through some dirt to see the width of the contact point and it is only bout n inch I can't run it like that or I only get many another k out And actually rakthi I have ran it in a slolem type run at verring speeds also high speed cornering and bike feels fine no squishyness in the rear no floating

I had to replace my 200 on my Fat Boy Lo at 4900 miles. However HD covered it under warranty since it really shouldn't go that quickly. I have to agree with everyone else here though..sounds like you're running the psi WAY too low. Mine was running low (around 35 psi) because I was too lazy to check it all the time and I think that's why it went at only 4900 miles. I now check it every week and keep it closer to 42 in the rear. Tires are way to expensive to go that soon. Should get at least close to 10K out of the rear tire. I'd put it at the recommended psi (probably 42) and keep it there. Stop worrying about width of the contact point or just get a fatter tire next time?

Wow...You got HD to warranty your rear at 4900? Nice. Guess I should have tried that! I have 12k on my bike and just put my 3rd rear and my 2nd front on (that includes the originals). Not even one burnout but I do ride hard I guess. This time I got way from the Dunflops.. Trying the Pirellis..only about 100 miles on them so far but really like them over the D's.
