I've got an 03 FLSTCI, and sure would like to get a good stand that'll stop my bike from rolling forward on any slight downhill incline when parked headed that way. A PITA at times. My stocker is kinda cheesy I think. Have any of you got one that you'd recommend or at least heard of one? A link or a name would sure be a blessing! I appreciate any input...
Got a ride in today, windier than crap but a bit of sun and 60, no rain but it's comming. Hopefully it'll be over tomorrow for the New Years run temp will be back down in the 40s and light rain but way better than the teens. Hope you that can get out are able to do so and can start the new year out on a good note. Happy NEW YEAR to all of you and your families, be Healthy and I hope we all Prosper. But at the top of the list Ride safe and Watch the cages, especially this weekend, lord there's gonna be some drinkin' going on and I'll be one of them but not drivin or ridin till the buzz is gone..... Take Care
I would think your stand locks in place when the bike leans on it. I was always used to no lock at all before my '09' Heritage. Always had to park in gear.
I have never ridden a softail, but the touring models have a stand that locks in place when weight is applied to it. It will not roll forward or back. Then it releases when you stand the bike back up. It is that way right from the factory.
They can roll just a little bit either way but are locked so they wont go anwhere so why worry about it. On the metrics they didnt have a lock and you never parked heading downhill they would roll off on you.
The stock jiffy stand locks it. You can test it by trying to push the bike forward while it's leaning on the stand.
heh heh Yer Right, Thanx.... ohwhatajerkiam! That's an very old chant that sets my mind at ease, you did too! (set my mind at ease I mean) I was just out in the garage doing that!!
Regardless of the locking jiffy stand, it is still a good idea to park the bike in gear, unless your on level ground. Some riders occasionally don't get their jiffy stand fully locked. With the bike in gear it wont roll and let the jiffy stand fold up.
The best method is to always park it in gear. That way you wont accidentally leave it in neutral, on an incline.
The only time I park mine in neutral is in my garage.

I know Tom, I get people wanting to hear the SuperTrapps with the 117 engine and it's just easier to crank it in neutral.
