lo-ride left some nice, detailed info but reading that was more exhausting then running to the garage to touch up and polish the forks.

You do not need to polish once a month. Maybe once every three, six or ? Whatever floats your boat. And polishing takes a few minutes.

I also removed tire and fender.

1st, I am not recommending clear-coat, only stating that some do that.

There is no need to sand & polish every month. Sanding would only be done to minimize the stone-dings or scratches which may accumulate. And polishing can be done as infrequently as you'd like, perhaps once or twice a year.

Ok that is what I was trying to ask. The sanding and redo. Anyway, thanks for clarifying. I'm going to do this to the lowers on my Ultra and didn't know the lessens I would go through on the up keep.

I thought your post was good info thanks!

When I did mine I used fishing line to "saw" through the backing on the reflector. This eliminates those scratches. Remove rest of adhesive with goof off , WD-40 or whatever your preference is.

Using a cloth spirial sewn buffing wheel and an electric drill, apply white rouge (usually in stick form) to the spirial sewn buffing wheel in your drill by holding the end against the spinning wheel in the drill. Use light pressure as you polish the tubes, re-apply more white rouge as needed. Follow up with a clean soft buffing wheel. This will produce the best result possible.
