You buy stock Harley hard bags and add them to your bike. You can use a bunch of different kind of mounts. These will work: http://www.drvtwin.com/eshopprod_cat...AGGER_TAIL.htm
I am using Harley hard bags and probably these mounts for the build I am doing. You can find the bikes pretty reasonable on eBay. Depending on your funds, Arlen Ness makes stretched touring bags that you can use the above mounts on to put on your bike.
Stretched touring bags can be done, but it is better to use the bagger tail as it supports the bag completely. This brackets look to be okay, but I avhe never seen them in person. One thing to keep in mind with stretched bags is how much they are stretched as lowered softails with stretched bags can be low enough for the bags to scrape. I have seen this on happen on several lowered softails.
I'd love to do stretched bags on mine, but it's not going to happen for a while. There areplenty of palces to get stretched bags from. Let me know if you need help finding some at a decent price...
The cost from doing hard bags is mainly the painting and the hardware for the bags.
The cycle visions kit comes in a regular or low version. A lot of it has to do with how long your bags are. Your exhaust is already very low, so I would imagine you need some really stretched bags if you want it to cover the exhaust completely and then come out the back of the bags.
Go to www.cyclevisions.com and look at their baggertail kit, i have seen this and it looks good.... I almost did it myself... but Im opting for buying a bagger next year after my project on my springer is done!
I used the calvary fiberglass bag mounts on mine. They work just fine, I have a set of RK Custom bags mounted to them. I feel those bags should have come from Harley for the softails. The bracket is different from the one they show in the pic and looks more like the Cyclevisions one. Search the site and google, lots of people have done this mod. And dont worry about extended bags. Here is a Springer with extended bags , looks really good in person. You can order all the parts from him as well, although you will pay a price for his quality goods. Good luck
