I am in the process of putting my coil behind the splashguard on my 07 night train. Does anyone know what the plasitic piece that looks like a cradle of some sort is? Nothing is inside of it, just a empty plastic cradle with 2 plastic tabs on it. Also if anyone has pics of thier coil back there could you please post. Thanks all- Jim
I did it last year on my FXSTC. Bolted the coil to a piece of aluminum bar. Mounted the bar holding the coil between the tab the splash guard mounts to and the splash guard. Used longer screws for the splash guard. Seems like my wires were appx 65" long. Ordered from US Kool Lines. Ran this setup over 5000 miles so far. I also lost the horn and the braket that held the coil. So much of a cleaner look now..........
Yeah the wires will be a bit long. Just trying to cleanup the look on that side of the bike. Going to maybe do the horn too. Does anyone actully use thier horn though?? Maybe Ill just lose it for awhile. Will it hurt anything to just leave the wires unconnected? Alot of snow and ice coming...just more time to tinker. Thanks all for responses. -J
You have to have a horn here in Texas to pass inspection. I moved my coil to th ehorn position and my horn to the front where a crashbar would mount like on a rocker.
I put my coil and ecm back there and havent had a problem. I made my own wires from a msd v8 set and I put my splash guard back, just put a spacer so the guard wont rest on it.
