Default Primary chain ajustment

I just reinstall my primary case and try to ajust the chain tension. (between 1/2 and 7/8 upper slack)

My mesure is more then 1 inch. In the transmission, i got backlash. So, If I hold the clutch, I have the good tension.

Someone can tell me which way I can ajust the tension, do »I need to be on 1 gear or neutral, etc....
