Default Best Cam for a Stage I...........

I have a '08 Heritage with V&H longshots and a stage I kit. I want to add a good cam for lower to mid range torque. My riding style is mostly around town/city and on the open highway 65mph and under at all times. I am not an aggressive rider, but I would love to have some more get up and go power from lower end that I can definitely feel! I am deciding between the SE-255 or SE254............ Any suggestions are welcome! Thanks

I went with the 255's... Not really aggressive, but lots of getup and go. I'm sure if you're not looking to make a race bike you'll be happy with them.

Good question, I'm thinking of doing the same thing to my Lo. Not sure which cams to go with either. What is the difference between the 254 and 255? I've been looking, but not real sure. Will be keeping an eye on this one.

I just got my bike out for a ride (last week we had one 40 day with no snow.. ).
I had the Andrews 37 , my bike is lighter than yours, but I can tell you this thing ROCKS.

I have TC88 all stock just added lifters/adjustable push-rods , Doherty powerpacc cleaner & SE slipons.

Yeah. I've heard nothing but good about that cam.
Question: did you get the Torrington inner bearings and quick-install pushrods, too, or just the cam?

I got the install kit from Jamie at fuelmoto which had the timiken bearings and I used their pushrods. Jamie said because of the base circle difference in the 555s, you can sometimes get some top end noise with stock push rods. The tech who did the work said that the FM pushrods were different than anything he had used and he had a hard time with them, but they got them in there. The bike is a beast with these cams....

I second the Woods TW-555 or the S&S 551 ezstart

here's a link to the woods dyno chart page, look at the curves and pick a cam that matches what you want.

I went with the andrews 48h, it f'n rocks, dyno charts from some show an almost 100/100 with just the cam change. Havent dyno'd mine yet because this weather sucks, should have it done in a couple weeks. Can tell you one thing, a roll on spins the 200 like theres no tomorrow, and wot is scary quick on the throttle response from idle. All the sheets I have seen have a good 90+ tq from about 21-2500 all the way through 4500 now from riding what I could before the weather hit that torque is all there.

Surprised no one else mentions the 48.
