Default 2010 FB Lo - Avon Front Tire

Searched the forums and can't find anyone running this Avon tire on the FRONT of their FB:

150/80R-17 (72V) Avon Cobra AV71 Front Motorcycle Tire

I am trying to figure out if the Avon 150mm will fit on the front end or not. It appears to be about 1.2" larger diameter and .14" wider than the Dunlop 408f.

I found this thread:

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/softa...ront-tire.html

talking about running the "same size" Metzler with no issues. According to the specs the Metzler is slightly larger diameter 26.73 vs. 26.5 and slightly wider 5.98 vs 5.9 but didn't want to trust published specs over actual experience.

I am planning on running this on the rear: 200/55VR-17 (78V) Avon Cobra AV72 Rear Motorcycle Tire

Thanks for any help / feedback!

Hey DC, let us know how it works out for you - I was looking at those as well when the time comes to replace mine.

Thanks!

I run the Avon Cobras on my bike, They are just a little bigger or smaller in some sizes but as long as the size is the same it should be fine

Figured I would resurrect this since I'm getting close to tire changing time.

Still wondering if anyone is running the 150/80R17 Avon on the front?

The stock tire is the Dunlop 408f 140/75R17 so they aren't the same "size".

I broke down and called both Avon a Metzler.

Avon SAYS they will be making the cobra in 140/75 R17 next year, should be available about May.

In the meantime I think I am going to try the Cobra on the Rear and a Pirelli Night Dragon on the front.

I even asked Avon about running a Storm 2 on the front, and they said that because of the lower weight rating, they couldn't recommend it.

PS I was hoping to run a slightly narrower tire in the front (130) but can't find anything between Metz / Pirelli / Avon that fits the bill.
