Security is a good thing to have I will be adding that to my bike later. However the ABS on the other hand is an awesome safety feature. BUT if you are planning on modding your bike and depending on what mods just know that currently you can't swap out your handlebars for ape hangers or something that requires longer cables. The companies do not have cables and lines out compatible with the ABS system yet. They will but they aren't out yet. Also if you want to go with the Shotgun shock air ride suspension the ABS is mounted where you put the air compressor.
Not sure what other mods you are going to run into issues with the ABS system. Just be aware that it could mess with a few of your mods.

I would say get the ABS if it's your only bike. In my case I ride 2 other bikes, a 2009 Bonneville and a 2001 Sportster - neither have ABS so I decided not to add the option on my FBL.
Since I switch between them all the time I figured it would be best to have a standard braking reaction. If I only rode one I would have ABS.
Hypothectically speaking, what would be involved in adding ABS?
You can't. It must be installed at the factory, when the bike is built.
I have it on my Ultra, and If it were not for the mods done on the wife's Deluxe, and the loss I would take, she would be getting a new bike with ABS. I'll never own another bike without it.
I'm on my seventh street bike and have never had the choice of getting ABS on any of them. When I get my next bike, if that model has ABS as an option, I will get it.
