Well, I want great sound on my 2010 fatboy. So I decided on vance and hines slip on. I ordered at the dealer. about $330 and quiet baffle around $30.
Good price so far but the mechanic told me I better get the engine tuned and dyno(I have no idea what it is) and new air filter. The total comes up about $1600 out the door. I agreed to do it oh boy that is incredibly expensive. I am not sure whether I am doing this right or not. Or is there any other cheaper way to get it done right. What do you think?
Slip ons and new air filter didn't need a dyno IMO.
They're just going to remap the ECM with a canned map anyway.
Unless they are going to add a fuel manager...

you're about to be had my friend... I put all new V&H exhaust, intake and a V&H FuelPak on myself for WAY less than that..
with only slip-ons and no new intake you don't really NEED a new map for your ecm.. it would help with the already lean stock condition but you don't HAVE to do that.. I say install the slip-ons yourself. they are easy.
Call him and stop the work. You should be able to get all the parts you need for maybe $700-800. You can install it all yourself. Get the V&H FuelPak and you won't need the dyno. You can install it all yourself in a couple hours and you'll save about $800 and feel really good about yourself.

What he said only with !!!! Destination HD in Tacoma? Run away, at least go to Lacey, they used to be pretty good guys a few years back. Don't know now.
I bought mine from dennis kirk off here for around $256 and put them on myself in about 40 minutes and 3 beers. You do not need to remap unless you change you breather which is going to be my next step them put a fuel pack or something on but not HD.
