Default Chrome Touring Handlebar

Looking at replacing the OEM handlebar on my 2011 Deluxe with the Road King Touring handlebar. Has anyone done this? If so, what lengths of throttle/idle, clutch, and brake cables did you go with? I asked my local dealer only to get the typical song and dance on why I should pay them to do the work.

One surefire way to get the lengths correct. Get the new handlebar first. Take the old one off and rest it on the front of the bike (protecting the paint and chrome of course). Mount the new bars and measure them. It sucks to wait for the new bars and then wait for the cables and lines. It sucks more to buy everything 2" too short or 6" too long.

Chubby Wild Ones WO508 is a narrower version on the 518 that I have, It has a decent pullback so you don't need to lean or reach froward and has a beach bar look. I believe you will need +2 or +4 cables depending on what bars came with the 2010 Deluxe.

Ordered the new cables and brake line from magnumshielding.com, and now the waiting game for the stuff to arrive. The service manual provides detailed descriptions on replacing throttle and clutch cables, but doesn't say much on changing ABS brake lines, specifically the line that runs from the master cylinder on the handlebar to the HCU unit. The plan is to see if I can get away with just swapping out that one line instead of having to do an entire replacement. Unfortunately, my local H-D dealership has been less than helpful on getting specifics.

Here's an update to my project of putting Road King touring handlebars on my '11 Deluxe. I wish I could say everything went like clockwork, but very few things ever do for me.

Got the new lines from Magnum Shielding and proceeded to tear the bike down. Took the old bars off, disconnected all the electricals, and removed the gas tank. I decided to start with replacing the brake line so drained the resevoir and disconnected the old line. This is where my project comes to an end. The new brake line from Magnaum doesn't fit; wrong size banjo. Since I had the line off, I decided to take it to my local H-D the next day to see if they give my some info, particulary the length of a brake line from a '11 Heritage with ABS. Naturally as my luck always goes, they didn't know nor did they have a brake line they could compare it to. So I went home and put the bike back together.

Not was all lost though as I did learn a few things:

1) I'm becoming a pro at removing the gas tank and disconnecting lines and electricals and putting everything back together. This was my second time doing this.

2) The Harbor Freight Brake Bleeder and Vacuum Pump Kit worked great. Thanks to everyone who suggested using it in their posts. Tested the bike and the brake works; nothing coming up saying my brake was all jacked up. Refering to how my luck goes, I will still take my bike to H-D and have them hook it up to the Digital Tech just for that extra piece of mind.

I know some of you are waiting to see how this project finishes out and I haven't given up. Now I'm thinking a brake line from a Heritage may give me the extra 3 to 4 inches I need. I will update as thing progress.
