I was content with the typical Stage I....air cleaner, slip-ons, reflash for 52k. I upgraded to gear drive cams and added a DFO after 5 years of ownership out of necessity. I've got an extra set of jugs and heads to do a 95" when the time comes. However, I refuse to tear apart a perfectly good top end till it needs it.
ORIGINAL: T 3
Not doing anything to mine for the next couple of years - might change air-cleaner/pipes at some point.
I'm with you on this, besides i think the wife would have a cow if I started spending ton of money just to get 10 or 15 more hp and maybe invalidating the warrenty in the process.
I've just done the Stage one so far. I will eventually do a sleeper set up on mine, I just haven't gotten the itch to do it yet. Bored stock jugs, ported heads, gear drive cams, bored throttle body, probably no more than 9.5:1 compression. I've been looking at doing roller rockers on this setup but haven't decided if it would be worth it. From what I can tell the gain is not that great for the cost.
My target would be around 100hp/100ftlbs TQ.
I had the SE Stage 1 air cleaner, SE 16 gauge pipes & map done by the dealer before I picked up the bike new. Not sure if I'll go beyond this anytime soon. Performance is adequate for most all riding situations. Maybe if I stumble into some extra money that the wife can't figure out how to spend (yeah, right) I'd go for the 95", cams, port & polish, Baker 6 speed. But, no rush on that... I'd rather ride it than wrench it. Right now a better seat, bars that fit me better, easy clutch, self adjusting primary chain tensioner top the wish list.
Just bought a used 2002 FLSTC and it has a Screamin' Eagle 103 and a 6 speed transmission, high flow air cleaner and a Vance & Hines 2 into 1 exhaust. I thought it might be too much power, but I really like it.
I have the big bore kit with screamin eagle heads, cams perfect fit push rods forged pistons and roller rockers. Once you have a machine like this you will never be able to ride a stock machine again as long as you ride. The difference is huge if I could only have one mod this would be it I would give up all the bling just to have the power.
