I've been debating getting dyno'd during my 1000 mile service next week. The dealer installed a stage 1 when I bought it. I don't know how generic or specific that map was. Does the Fuelpak work alongside the map that was installed, override it or conflict with it?

Can't answer the question specifically (alongside and override certain things, yes) but you will need know the map you have on there now to get the right FP settings... Go here and play around and you'll see what I mean...

The fuel pak has fuel maps to match with their(or anyones) pipes. It can lean or richen the a/f ratio. I have one on my bob and it does help alot once dialed in correctly. And install is a breeze. Truly plug and play. If your only going with stage one forget a dyno tune. The fuel paks maps are fine and can be user adjusted without need of a computer. If you were going to install new cams then a dyno tune would be needed but not in your application. Rubber side down

Thumbs down Fuel Pak

I used to be a Fuel Pak believer. Installed about 5 on various bikes I've owned. Installed one on my 2011 Fat Boy, 250 miles later the bike stopped dead in its tracks. Had it towed to a dealer. Fuel Pak had failed. Had a SE Fuel Mod download done by dealer. Rode her home, no problem.
Contacted V&H and was told my $$$ would be refunded. Sent the fuel pak back to them. Got a delivery receipt, they say they never got it. I'm out the $280.00. Hard lesson.

Last time I deal with V&H.

baggerman,
You should have had the post office do a " Conformation Service".
Here's the site for the future: https://www.usps.com/ship/insurance-...a-services.htm

It confirms that you sent it and they received it. All for about $2-5.

I have an 07 Fatboy with V&H Big Shot Staggered..........and a Fuel Pak. Works great, the bike runs great and on long trips in 6th gear I can get 48-50mpg. Hope that helps!

Here's my nickle... Either go cheap and don't worry any further... or go expensive and get it 'right'. The choices for expensive are cheap ECM w/dyno tune (which on your bike works best for your locale and your current upgrades only) or expensive ECM with o2 sensors and the willingness to play with fuel curves. I had a power commander (similar to a fuel pak) and it ran great with a dyno but was too lean in the lower RPM's. I kept fiddling with it and got it right then I moved to a much lower elevation. That's when I said enough is enough and got a TMax. I asked for the best combo of mileage and performance with the dyno tune which is why it was too lean when it got hot out. It depends upon your pipes, primarily, as to whether there are 'over sensitive' rpm ranges or not.

Ur friend is right as far as the SE tuner will be a lot better tune for Ur bike. It or some others and a dyno will actually tune U motor to the best all around performance and give u more HP and TQ.

All the cheaper Fuel pac will do it change the A/F so it wont run Lean.
They don't change anything else.

The cheapest way to go is U can also get a Harley down load thats even cheaper to match Ur pipes and filter. It'll do about the same as the FP.

Its not to bad and it will get U by.

I have read in here for yrs where a lot of members that buy the cheaper F/M systems only to have to later buy a better system later, then they think it was a waste of money.

The best thing U can do is do some Searches on it.
As most who have them will like them because they've never had anything better..
