Default Getting a Blackline- 2011 or 2012?

Hi-

I'm looking to get a new Blackline in the next few months. There are some leftover 2011 models, so my dealer offered $1500 off list and they will install a 103 kit at no charge. (This is before I have even tried to negotiate.)

I have a few questions:

1) Is it ill-advised to be swapping out these components on a brand new bike? I'm not concerned about re-sale as much as I am about the engine being oil-tight and performing well.

2) I like the stock two-tone jugs on the blackline. Does the 103 kit come that way?

3) Are there any other differences between the 2011 and 2012 that I should know about?

Other details: I will be adding V&H Big Shots, some kind of high-flow air intake, and probably cams. Oh, and it will be orange.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Brad

If you are doing cams you are opening her up anyway. For that price plus the upgrade I would do it. Same jugs.
I think its otherwise similar minus the 103 badging. I hope they have the electronics because I love the gear/tach readout.

Comes with the same warranty as a new bike, I assume, so I would jump on that. Also, with a 2011, you'll be able to do a stage I right away, whereas fuel management for the 2012s are not available yet because they have totally different ECMs and O2 sensors. Blacklines are sweet bikes! Love 'em.

If you're going to rock new cams anyways, save yourself some money and get a good out the door deal on the 2011 and open that 96" up.

two pennies.

Depending on your feelings on these, ABS and security are seperate options in 2011, the same option in 2012.

Seeing that you were planning on opening up the engine anyway, I'd go with the 2011 and work your dealer over for as much of the work as possible.

I think you should go for the 2011 as well.

I just bought a 2011 two days ago. I wish my dealer would have put in the 103 kit for free. Jump on it.

Default 2012...........

I got the 2012. I had to order my own o2 sensor adapter kit from nightrider.com to put on my new exhaust. I am really happy with the bike so far.
