are the HD leather steel toe riding boots that you see at the dealers any good? are they good quality or should i just wear my cheapo steel toe work boots? thanks
I don't have any H-D steel toe boots. I do have two pair (one older pair and one newer pair) of H-D boots. Quality wise, other than shoe laces breaking, I have had zero problems with either pair. The older pair have some scuffs but are still very sound.
I have several pairs. Some are nearly 10 years old now. The older ones were made by Double H. HD boots are made by Wolverine, now. They are good boots, IMO.
Funny you mention this topic. Have you seen the show "MythBusters"? they had a show where they tested this kind of shoes, and to make a long story short, they failed miserably. Don't recall exactly what kind of force they are suppossed to resist, but when put to the test they broke, lol. Mythbusters
Anyway I had those boots before and they are OK, I hated them shoe laces though, with the wind they come off and get tangled in the brake pedal; man talk about your foot tied to the brake lever and being unable to put the bike on neutral and on its side stand. And as the above named show suggests this safety boots may actually cut your toes in the event of a spill. Soo I got me some HD boots instead.
I wouldn't throw my money away on "Harley" boots. They are just some regular boot with Harley stamped on them so they can double the sale price. Just like the "Harley" helmets are KBC but twice the price. If you want some good riding boots I would look at:
If you like to sport the HD brand (like I do) and not overpay, go do a search on eBay......lots of wholesalers selling the HD boots at 20-50% discount..........these products just like hats and baby clothes can be sold outsideof delaerships.
