Default Brake Pedal query

First off, I like the word Query..i don't think it's used enough.

Secondly, I'm getting my brake pedal powdercoated wrinkle black. I have it painted with the truck-bed liner trick, but it just didn't come out evenly and it's already flaking in places. So i'm gonna try the PC route.. None of this is important.

What's important is this.. There's a small plastic piece (not really a bearing, just a plastic tube) inside of where the pedal slips on to the mount on the frame.. does this plastic piece come out? Or do you think it'll handle the 450* baking temperature? I should probably just call the guy and ask..huh?

yeah I would call. Probably should come out before hand. My guess would be that at 450 degrees it's gaonna come out anyways, just not how you may want it too.

But I'd be intererested to know the answer to your query.

After some whacking and smacking.. there's actually 2 small plastic pieces in there, and they come out with a clamp, a flathead screwdriver, and a bigass hammer.. yeah. so i guess that answers my question. haha

Sgt,

The 2 piece plastic sleeve will Not hold up to PC baking. Remove the sleeves and re-install after. If you damage them, they can be purchased from Harley cheaply.

Just remember that if they get any pc in the hole you will have to remove it to replace the plastic bushings.

they are just bushings... you can get a replacement from your friendly stealer.

when we did powdercoating to our sons 1/4 midget(think sprint car without wing) we would install old bolts in holes and tubes that we didn't want filled with powdercoat. that stuff is hard as a rock and a bitch to cut or grind down or out.

yeah i experienced that with the first round of powdercoating.. luckily, though, my neighbor has a full set of dies and taps, so getting the coating out is as easy as running a tap through the threads
