I'm in the same boat. I want to put apes on my Deluxe but I hate going out blind to buy them. I wish the sites that sold apes had them advertised with the bars on bikes so one could see how they look. In all my years of riding the one of only a few things I have never done is to ride a bike with apes on them. I am leaning towards the gangster 16" apes. I like how they flow, are not just straight pieces of pipe bent upwards off of the bike. I sure hate to drop a ton of money only to find out I don't like them. I have to do something though, past surgeries leave me in pain with stock bars and I have had guys tell me they too had issues and once they got the apes they were much more comfortable riding with way less pain once they got the apes. Pics would be greatly appreciated for myself as well.

Dealer in my area, (AD Farrow) have a great sales idea. They have roughly 5 or 6 different sets of bars out on display and a Fatboy setup with no bars or risers. The customer sits on the bike and gets to "try out" each set of bars they like.

After sitting on the Fatboy, I ordered a set of 16" apes for my standard. I'm 5'9 and they felt the best for what I was looking for.

My Dyna has a lowered rear and the triple sits higher than your fatty. I have 12"s and the grips are at my shoulders. I'm a tall 5'7" LOL, so I'm thinking you need 14' or 16" but it all depends what you're going for.

Yes 12's, but My rear is lowered an inch and a Dyna triple sits higher than a softail frame, so would I would need 14's or 16's on a fatty frame.

I don'e like risers with apes so I would use a 1 inch riser. JMO.

Thx by the way!

If you are gonna spend 300 on bars you might as well get a set of Carlini's, they are far better looking than the HD bars in my opinion. I am 6'2" and I have the 18" Gangster apes on my bike.

Here's a good pic that you can see the bars in...
