So i came into a paughco 60's style fl swingarm frame p/n R147T for free and im new to the harley world, this is a soft tail frame? its not a rigid i know that for sure and it takes an evo fxr drivetrain but thats about where it ends
Thanks for the pics. It is a 60's '4 speed' STYLE frame modified to accept the rubber mount FXR/FLT components that were introduced in 1980 (FLT) and 1982 (FXR) respectively to reduce vibration.
The Softail reference refers only to the oil tank, a "wrap around" normally not wrapped around the center post on an FXR/FLT but is on all softail models, and will sit just under the seat, visible from both sides. Thus the Softail style description.
Basically it's a Paughco designed custom swingarm frame utilizing rubber mount technology with a little bit of Softail style. This frame will accept conventional visible rear shocks.
Depending on your state, it will end up being a Home Built or Special Construction motorcycle. It will not be titled a Harley regardless of who's power plant you choose.
