Steering Lock-missing key
I am with Gliden on this one! I use everything I can get my hands on to make it as hard as I can to steal my scooter! I lived in pasadena tx years ago and some losers were so foild with all I had on the bike they threw a chain around it and was dragging it out of the parking lot and down the street. It sure messed my bike up but they didn't get it ( wish they had cause of insurance). I do everyhting I can to make it as hard as possible to try to take my bike. Yes, they can throw it in a truck but that makes noise and takes time, time enough for my dog to bark, let him out and to grab my gun. I dtill don't understand why Harley told you what they did. I went in with my last bike, took my VIN number and I had a key the next day or two. Good luck and I am curious to see how this turns out, keep us posted.
Thanks all for your input. To answer Dickey above. HD was contacted and advised that they screwed up on the key code for several VINs. Mine included. So there is no code. Not even on the key. Thought maybe a locksmith could duplicate.
I guess I didn't give enough information. I got the bike from a custom bike house, they buy and sell used harleys, choppers, etc. It was a repo. The original ignition lock key is missing. They had to change the ignition, so I have that key. They contacted a Harley Dealer and was informed that HD Corp screwed up.
