weird.. never had a problem with the primary cover.. had it off several times and never even replaced the seal (i know, i know).. no leaks.. never used loctite
i just bought 2 new GOOD torque wrenches for my bike rebuild and realized that I've probably been WAY over-tightening things by not using one.. still, the primary bolts have always been easy... i have always followed the proper sequence, but like I said, only recently got torque wrenches worth using.
Don't know "official" numbers but my manual (07 Fatboy) says 84-108 in/lbs. with a special sequence....see attached. Hope this is what you are lookin for.

What technology torque wrench did you buy?
I stopped using the older "click" style because I found them WAY inaccurate and more likely to cause stripping. They also get out of calibration if you don't return the dial to zero after use.
But I heard better things with split-beam torque wrenches but wanted to get other's experiences before buying one.

I bought a mini butane torch and heated up the bolts like some people here suggested. It melted the red loctite and worked.
how did it do with the chrome surrounding the bolts?i had talked to a coworker about the same same thing last night but was worried about hurting the surrounding metals.my bolts are zinc plated bolts (factory).

Mine is black, but I didn't see any issue. The flame is small but hot, and I only had it on the bolt for about 15 seconds. The flame didn't touch anything else.
well i got the cover off.not that anyone cares but id like to share a few things.i bought a impact driver and a good Snap-On 27 torx socket.well 4 bolts came out with the impact driver.the fifth one would not.so i drilled the head off and with some kroil penetrating oil and a set off vise grips i managed to get the last one out but it was TUFF!i notices that the bolts had not had loc-tite like i had suspected but were in fact corroded.these bolts are zinc plated.i am going to put stainless back in i hope.and i used the old gasket over again i have a new one but dont see anything wrong with the old one since its only been off one other time.if not i can always change it out. thanks for everyones imput,oh and i'll have to take the socket back and have it replaced the splines are twisted and mangled.
Had the same problem with one of the Torx bolts on the front fender. Took a Dremel and squared off two sides and then in with the Vice-Grip. Came right off. ...or maybe it was all the swearing that made it submit.
