Tried to get used to it but couldn't, now just have a toe shifter.

Without It, I have a little bit more room to move my foot around.

same here..my front shifter is extended 1 inch and the rear 1 1/2 inches, this gives me room for my 13's to sit on the boards without hitting the shifters. I adjusted the shifters as low to the floorboards as I could. up shifting is done with a push of the heal and down shifting a push with the toe...works for me. I also installed Goodies Floor Board Extenders..great mod for the price.

I took the heel shifter off all of my Harleys, didn't like it and I was afraid my foot would get caught in it.

I got a new Heritage a month ago. I never had a heel shifter before but got used to it in no time. I put the Harley Goodies footboard extensions on and a 2" extended heel shift lever and lowered the levers as far as they would go and still work.
Gives me plenty of room for size 12 and comfort. This lever matches up with the stock one and is nice for the price. AL

I used mine for the first few weeks I had the bike but found that shifting with my toe was still more comfortable. Felt like I had to get way up on my toes to use the heel shifter. I left it on there because I use it as a backstop for my foot. I might try lowering it all the way down and see if it feels more natural.

Don't like the heel toe shifters! First thing to come off is the heel shifter and a chrome shifter shaft cap goes in it's place!

I am still trying to get use to mine. I tend to get a bit of cramping in my let holding my heel up while taking off from a stop. I find myself toe shifting more often than not. As with others, this is my first HD after riding toe-only bikes for that past 35 years (ouch). Old habits die hard.

Like ya say I can always put it back on later if the need arises.
Also finding neutral is better with using just the toe IMO.

A friend has a RK and he is always hitting the heel when not wanted, but he leaves it on?
Thanks for the info and input
Regards
I'd suggest giving it a chance. Have it on my EG and love it. G/f picked up an 07 Fatboy to add to her 00 Lowrider, which is toe only. Took her about 5 rides to get used to the toe/heel on the fatboy and now she wishes she had one on the dyna as well.

I agree with an earlier poster - you may have to adjust the height of either or both to find a comfort spot. Heels on several HDs I've had were all too high from the dealership so I lowered them a couple of clicks and they're perfect.
