Just bought my first HD in January. At first it was something I said I would not use. But, I kept an open mind and tried using it. Still takes a little bit of a thought process, but I love it. Good luck, practice in an open area (empty parking lot) to get used to it!

Dont use mine much except when I'm cruisin in town during the summer, so much easier to shift the heal toe with flip-flops on.
I know some peoples view when it comes to riding with flip flops but I do what I want
As far as gettin tangle up in the heel toe solved that by getting some floor board extenders from Harley Goodies, moved the boards out about an inch made all the difference in the world in comfort & and freeing up what was a crowded floor board.

I took my heel shifter off because it restricted movement of my left foot. Plus i think its a pain to move your foot backwards to shift.

Only have had mine for a few weeks now, but I like the heel shifter. Sometimes though a single tromp on it won't get me through neutral to second. All other gears=no problem.

Never could get used to the heel shifter. That being said, I never removed it. I just got used to the fact that it was there and mostly just ignore it.

Agreed. Ride what you like, how you like, when you like as long as you don't hurt anyone else.

Like ya say I can always put it back on later if the need arises.
Also finding neutral is better with using just the toe IMO.

A friend has a RK and he is always hitting the heel when not wanted, but he leaves it on?
Thanks for the info and input
Regards

I agree with you, not enough room between them and took mine off. I found this spacers to fill the place where the arms was. http://www.jpcycles.com/product/530-658

I found out early that my boot was a bit big to fit under the toe shifter comfortably and I'd have to slide my foot outward and up to shift down in amungst scuffing the top of my boot upshifting. I really like the heel shifter but to make it fit a bit better I found a forum post in here about turning the toe shifter linkage around and gets you a little bit more room for your foot. I did it and now its a bit more comfortable when shifting up or down. Here is a couple pics I took of the shift pedal with the linkage turned around.

I also have a problem with the rear brake peddle being too long and high and I have to pull my foot back and up in order to use the rear brake, I feel the time I need my reaction time the most is going to be the day I get my foot stuck under the rear brake peddle, but solving that gonna cost a bit of change with a shorter and lower angled brake peddle
