Mine does the same deal especially when I go from WFO and whack it off to nothing and that is when it does it. Does it more since my dyno tune sooo?? It is kinda cool sounding to me I believe it (the pop) is extra fuel burning off outside of the cylinder which also keeps the motor running cooler...
What I do know is my bike was running pretty good prior to the dyno and now it is running as well as any I have ever ridden... and if this pop means that it isn't tuned right still then I guess that would be news to me, maybe fuel economy can be improved?? That isn't as critical to me as performance in HP and Tq. as well as healthy temps for the motor to live a long, high performing life.
Maybe someone who has more knowledge?? Since NASCAR went to fuel injection however, I don't see the exhaust flaming out the pipes when they are off the gas in the corner and when they had carbs they used to... So maybe there is more to this as asked by the OP??

What? I don't think so. Popping on decel although common isn't a standard running condition.
It's either an exhaust leak or it needs more fuel at 0 throttle position

Typically it needs more fuel at decel in the ranges it is acting up... simple to do with TTS and TMax, but it has been so long since I've had the PC III I can't remember if there were specific settings for it there. On some it is called Decel Enleanment.

Could try giving Jamie a call at FuelMoto - he's got a ton of experience with the Power Commanders and may be willing to give some assistance, else try working directly with Power Commander. They will be able to help dial it in.

it's not just one pop...it's a series of pops (pop, poppopoppopoppop) until it reaches a certain rpm/speed on the decel and goes away.

I initially kept going back to the exhaust leak theory but I check those nuts (LOL) after every ride and they are tight.

More fuel at 0 position could be the culprit. I don't have enough experience with the PCIII to add more fuel at 0 in those ranges.

When I had the 1k service done I had the dealer do the Stg1 and dyno with SERT..

I had a lot of decell popping and even a Kaboom every so often.

They redid the dyno that didn't help much, I rode it a little cause they said it would self tune it out, NOT,, I then called Rush and the TECH told me it sound like air leaks and he told me how to check for them..

Yeppers I had daylight at 5 of 8 slots where the clamps tighten..

After resealing the pipes and another Dyno tweak, the tuner got 90% of the popping out and no more KaBooms...

now I get the Jack brake sound on decelerations, with a gurggle at some Rpm's..

The retunes was all on there dime.

If I'd just had the canned map I am not sure how much diff it'd made, cause even after they resealed the muffs I still had some decell pop.
