Default headlite bezel

I just put a visor style trim ring part# 69735-05 on my train and there's a gap about 1/4" at the bottom where the tightning screw is. I believe it's on all the way, anybody have advise, or is this normal?

That brings up a point, I was actually going to purchase the visor style rings for my 2004 Road King
The part# I was told was 69733-05 for the Headlamp...Damn confused now, I guess I will be heading to the dealer in the next few days

Nitetrain, I had the same problem when I put a new "hooded" (I don't remember the part number) trim ring on the nacelle headlight on my FatBoy. The first time I put it on I had a gap at the bottom, above the pinch bolt, maybe 3/16 to 1/4". The trim ring I had taken off fit perfectly. I didn't want to really crank down on the pinch bolt because I was afraid I'd either strip out the phillips head slot or distort the metal at the bottom of the trim ring.

I took the trimring back off and looked it over as well as the headlamp assemby. I backed off the screw at the bottom of the headlamp retainer bezel a little bit and kind of pried the bezel away from the nacelle a little bit, trying to increase the "gap" in the circumference of the bezel. I cleaned the daylights out of the inside of the new trim ring and then lightly lubricated it, and the outer ring of the headlamp retaining bezel with a little WD-40 on a clean rag. I put the trimring back on and tried to "work" it from top to bottom to try and get it to fit in the "slot" around the circumference of the bezel, before attaching the pinch bolt. After I worked it about as far as it would go, I installed the pinch bolt loosely and then tightened the screw at the bottom of the headlamp bezel while trying to hold the trimring in place and keep it from slipping out of the gap. I tightened the pinch bolt while continuing to try and work the ring into place from top to bottom. You really need three hands to do this. If you can get someone to help you by pressing the trimring tight around the headlight housing while you tighten the pinch bolt it would be a lot easier. Anyway, after all this fiddling I did manage to close the gap at the pinch bolt location but the alignment isn't perfect. Since I was getting ready for a trip I didn't mess with it anymore and it still has a bit of mis-alignment to this day. One of these days when I'm really bored and I have a spare set of hands around I'll try to tweak it that last little bit.

Good luck. Hope this helps. Ride safe and have fun. See you on the road.

-Randy

If you do a search, you'll find there is a problem with this bezel. It's poorly-designed for its intended application which is why you have the gap. I originally intended to get one of these visors myself, but decided to pass when I learned about this issue. It's a shame because it's a great-looking visor.

Thanks guys, I got back down there this a.m., and got it to fit a bit better, so now I have about an 1/8" gap. I guess I'm gonna have to live with it. you know when I put the visor on without the headlamp it fits perfect, and when I put the headlamp in the bezel and squeeze the bezel it looks great,it's when I put the bezel on the housing with the headlamp it just doesn't close up all the way.

Exactly. Tried to install my friends trim visor on the head-lamp... same thing.

No problems on my head-lamp (nacelle) trim ring fits just perfect...

Regards.

This will not help with your fit problem, but it caused me a little confusion.
I checked out my optional bezel to see if it fit properly.
I have 4 pages of paper work showing the part numbers of the optional equipment the previous owner had installed when he bought the bike.
The optional chrome bezel on my bike is HD # 69626-99, page 738.
It is a one piece ring with no split at the bottom.I looked it up in the parts book. It shows the #69627-99, in the picture, which has a split at the bottom.

Tom,

I pretty sure this problem is limited to the visored bezel and doesn't involve the "Frenched" headlamp visor like you have. BTW, it looks great!
