Default Heritage backrest disassembly...

So do any of you know how to take one of these apart?? I "looks" like you have to pry the Harly symbol off to get to a center nut/screw??

yes? no?

what?

I already took off the cross bar at the bottom... with two screws.

I swapped out the brown leather on the back of mine for black and had to pry/peel it and the concho off to get at the bolt. It would have ripped the pad if i'd have tried to spin it off.

Mine came off no problem, but I guess it would depend on how tight it was put on originally.

Just spin the whole backrest counter clockwise to loosen it. Then grab the threaded bolt lightly with a needle nose, I put my new one the same way.

I pried it off and ended up snapping the little plastic fingers that hold it on, but it came off LOL. I didn't think about spinning it. I replaced it with the larger pad and I don't think spinning would work in my case. I went to harley and when I saw they wanted like 10 bucks for a new plastic medallion, I just used a dab of JB weld and stuck the old one back on and hasn't fallen off (yet). Jim

There are all kinds of medallions on ebay that look better (IMO) than that plastic thing.
