I went with the 14" 1.50 gangsters with the Carlini risers. I have a Danny Gray low profile Buttcrack seat. Im 5'10 and my arms are at shoulder level. Was gonna go 16's but glad i went with 14's as they feel and look pretty sweet.
14's. 1.50 here, flying Apes.. I'm 5'10 and the're perfect for me..Obe thing to think about also is you don't want to go to high because what if you ever go out of state...Sturgis, Daytona.. Some laws in other states are extremely tough on Ape Height! I'm on my IPhone so I cannot post pics but go to my Sig pic to see a Heritage with Apes!
ok I'm sold...going to go with the 14" gangters on my deluxe. do they sell kits for cables or do I have to buy all the longer cables seperately? I am going to have a friend install the bars for me.
one other thing is there really much of a difference between the 1.25" diameter apes and the 1.5"? If its minimal I will go with the 1.25", save myself $200 and just use the stock risers.

Since you have the FL front I would go with the 1.5
Def go with the 14", I have 14" Gangster Apes with 1.5" High Roller Risers, also by Carlini. Im 5'11" on a good day and have a low profile seat...Have rode in many states, been pulled over (for not having mirrors) and height was 'tested' and passed...plus they are very comfortable, the thickness of the bars assist in limiting vibration vs other bars, I use to have Yaffe's...You can also adjust them forward or backward thru the risers to adjust comfort, I have mine almost straight up right now.
Pic below..
What brand/length of cables did you go with when you installed your apes? I am going to go with the 14's also. thanks!
I installed the Magnum Black pearls with mine, i got them through Dr Vtwin. and they was smooth as butter. http://www.magnumshielding.com/#2
I installed a set of flying apes for a buddy and he went with Burlys, i had to oil the crap out of the clutch cable, i was not impressed with them, but it did finally smooth up, they are cheaper and personally you get what you pay for.
I think you should get your seat 1st then go after your Apes. It would be easier to match up once you have your seat of choice on there as to what Apes you then want to match up with your new seat height. Just my .02 on the subject. If and when I do get apes I will address my seat 1st. I like my stock seat though so I may not have much of a decision to make as to what bars I get. Also, different states have different laws regarding Apes and the legal height you are allowd to have on.
ok I finally may be in a position to get the 14" gangster apes on my deluxe. The only problem I have is that I have never replaced bars before. This is my first bike and I don't want to screw anything up. Does anybody know of a site or something that has step by step instructions (preferably with pics) that I can use to change them? I just afraid of screwing something up and having to dish out more dough to fix my screw ups.
the carlini gangster apes are true to size i believe the flying apes are not if you call them they will tell you i have 16 gangster apes on mine and i am 5'9" and they fit me perfect its a personal preference..good luck man you will love them amazing quality
