Right now the dealer thinks the ecu abs module went. They said something about the abs module is not communicating after they performed their flow chart. I'm waiting for the part to come in. I keep you guys updated..
I also have a mustang seat. I know someone mention their seat was rubbing in the wires but I didn't notice anything when I took my seat off.
It was indeed my new seat crushing the electrical harness . Just pushed back under seat and retaped wires. Been out 3 times last week and no red security light and flashing gauges !
Happy guy again!
Check your wires see if they are pinched!
Good luck.
Well, I finally got my bike back and the they said the ECU was bad. They replaced the computer. I haven't had a chance to go out for a longer ride. but all lights are off for now.
I am finally taking mine into Harley tomorrow. Anyone figure out codes that they are throwing. I just want to be able to share the info with them when I drop it off. It got worse yesterday since for 10 mins the neutral light and turn signals wouldnt work. I wish I had a go pro so I could film it or take a picture of it while it was happening (without killing myself). When it first happened. I told them when I checked in for maintenance ( I have my dealers prepaid which existed before Harleys central prepaid). Anyhow they just said cant dupe the problem. This time it is only going in for the problem since they also had to do a PM I am worried they turned it and the speedo worked fine. Since it happens when riding and only sometimes that isnt much help. So this time I am only sending it in for the issue so it can't be ignored while changing my oil.

They replaced the ECU and that took care of all my problems. My speedo was going on and off and my battery draining all by itself. check engine light was one, abs on, red light was on. no issues now.
I have a 2011 Heritage and when I ride in 5th or 6th gear my red security light comes on on the speedometer but I don't have a security system? It goes off when I slow down at a stop sign and idle. Any body else have this problem or have a solution. I'd like to fix it myself. I have a BoomAudio stereo on it but I don't know if that would even have anything to do with it.
From what you are saying it sounds like a short somewhere and vibration causing the problem.
In my case...
I put a led bulb in the rear taillight and it had bad LED's that kicked it off. The Heritage with the advanced electronic system is sensitive to any flicker of voltage.
Mine did it intermittently and then eventually stayed on.
Sorry, VR = Voltage Regulator. Was actually a factory recall and covered under warranty anyway.
Today that is what they think it is. Dropped her off yesterday for them to work on today. They called at 1pm saying it is throwing codes. We think it is volt regulator. Service assistant asked me to explain exactly what has been happening ( again ) so he can explain to mechanic. Then he called me back 20 mins later to say they want to keep it till Friday to charge the battery and then test the voltage regulator.
They are also bleeding my breaks since the mechanic felt they were soft. But I am super glad that it was throwing codes since last time they said they couldn't dup the problem.
Last time I had dropped it off for 10k mile maintenance and told them about the problem. Since my hubby is a mechanic (buses) I know that shops often give maintenance to entry level mechanics in the shop. At least in most of his shops. So this time even though it is only about 300 miles from 15k I only had them dealing with the problem vs doing the 15 k service hoping that would mean the problem wasn't an after thought.
Since they know there is a problem I am at least heading in right direction.
