Default Need help with my night train pleeeeaaase....

Just bought a 2003 Night Train that had been sitting for a few years, so no one really knows anything about it, and about 3 miles into my ride home, I heard a snap and the bike came to a stop and wouldn't start again. Since this is my first security system, I'm clueless but I am thinking that the problem is something to do with that because when we were checking it out, we couldn't get it to engage, thinking the battery was dead, but when I was sitting on the side of the road waiting for the tow truck, the lights started flashing... (remote was in my back pocket ) Anyway, have changed battery and was looking for security module which appears to be gone... Does anyone have any ideas??? Oh, btw, hello, my name is Stacy and I'm new here...

You don't happen to have the key fob obviously right?

Let me make a clarification I realized I should as I was rereading my post, the battery I changed is not the bike battery, but the fob, I guess, battery...vvvv

When you say "snap" was it a popping electrical snap, or ran over a twig snap??? I'd start by looking at your battery cables (both ends) and ensure they're tight + not grounding on anything. Then pull/check your fuses & ensure nothing popped...

can't even answer that really... happened so fast, I'd hate to say... kinda sounded like it came from left or under me... I did check the battery as well as the fuses.... it does turn over, just won't start... I don't think the security system is correct either but don't know what to check with that...

I am curious to know what part of the security system would cause a snap sound while going down the road?

ok, so maybe that had nothing to do with it or I'm wishfully thinking it's just the security system...

Have you pulled a plug to see if it is firing when the engine is turning over? Or just pull a plug wire off of one of the plugs, stick a screw driver in the end of the boot and hold it to where the metal shaft of the screw driver is about 1/16" from the engine fins and spin the engine over and see if the coil is firing.
