was doing an oil change and mistakenly removed what the service manual calls a "pipe plug"
About 1 oz of dirty oil drizzled slowly out of the hole. Having been expecting 3 quarts, I figured out right away that I had had a brain fart and removed the wrong plug.
Found the proper torque spec for the plug, wiped it off, and put it back in.
Proceeded with the rest of the oil change.
My question is: Was that regular engine oil that came out, or did I remove lube from somewhere that needs to be replaced by doing more than a regular oil change?
This plug is in the pan directly below the cover where the oil pump and cams
are located on the bottom of the engine...
You and about 100 other guys have done that, That was a little engine oil held in the case. if it doesn't leak you're fortunate. If it does , try some Teflon tape and don't over tighten it. It's a tapered plug and you have to be very careful with it. buy a service manual.
Beginning of learning from your errors, we've all done silly things over the years...no biggy.
Like posted above, if it leaks a lil teflon on it torque it back to specs.
