Default modifying factory risers for apes... need opinons

alright guys tighting down my risers to hold my wild one 16'' apes on my springer i managed to strip out 2 bolts....

anyway 270 bucks for the wild one risers is just astronomical to me.... so i was thinking what do you guys think about this idea.... has anyone ever done it i understand its kinda jimmy rigged but if i take my time with it i think it would look alright... other than that i guess im just heli coiling it.... haha so give me your input....

bassicly what everything is said in the photo is that i would drill out the original holes all the way through..... and then grind the bottom of where it came out flat so a nut will sit in there and then i can have a bolt go all the way through the riser and be held and be able to tighten it up with the nut on the outside

Firstly, what kind of bike is it? Secondly, you can always go aftermarket on the risers, and pick them up for about 70 dollars or so. Does the bar have a 1 inch section in the center, or is it 1.25, or 1.5 all the way across. I wouldn't modify anything when it comes to the risers. If a bolt breaks, then you might be screwed.

I would just go with a heli coil kit. I guess if you do it the way you are talking about, it could be pretty trick looking, but if you use the heli coil it will look stock and hold better than they did before.

I drilled and tapped mine...
Next size up bolt. I too stripped mine...
I used the aluminum can, anti skid tape, etc...
Nothing worked..
I took my bars off, and used rough sand Paper on the bars and both sides of the risers to get uverythibg to snug up and stay tight.

Helicoil the risers. They will be stronger than before...

And as far as apes go. Many Springer guys have drilled and pinned the bars in place.
