This kind of response always kills me. If it's so boring and all, why bother to even comment? Just shut up and go to the next thread
Of all the things people have commented on this, oh it cant happen and no it didnt happen and what ever else, what bothers you is that i said its gotten boring to me. Shut up and go to the next thread? Seriously, thats the only thing that bothers you about what anyone has said on this entire subject?
its only money.. i know guys who have spent 10's of thousands of dollars on drag cars, for what ? a $25 trophy and maybe $250-$500 on a good night at the gates..
and i ride like that maybe 5% of the time on the right street...95% of the time I'm putting around like everyone else...
i can vouch for steve here me n a bud of mine met steve and 1 of his buds a year or so ago for a ride up to a members party in janesville, i think well at least most of us ride ok 95% of the time then when its safe , a long starightaway which happens alot when yer on a bike cuz it just does, then you can let er rip, whats the major "oh your ruinin it for the rest of us crap?"
gimmie a break man live a little, maybe we will make a you tube video when i hook up w/ ya mang in a week or so and shut all the haters up, my bud will line up with ya hes gat that sport bike pretty fast see in a few
Torque is only half the equation. HP is the amount of work an engine can do, so it is what is used to calculate acceleration. A theoretical engine that produces 500 ft/lbs of torque at 100RPM but redlines at 101RPM is only going to put out 9.5 HP and is not going to be great at acceleration. A torque figure given without the RPM it is generated at is a worthless number.
Your argument is irrelevent here because he has a stated that his bike is making nearly double the HP than the bike he is racing.
Even still, if two theoretical engines are making the same HP, same vehicle, pushing the same weight, are raced (providing both hook up, etc.) the one making more torque will win the race. Many of these 7000 lb diesel trucks out there are running 10's in the 1/4 with a redline of 3500 rpm. They are running those times with much less HP at the rear wheels than it would take a higher revving, gas powered engine due to the insane TQ numbers they are putting up.
Not worth getting into arguments about hp vs torque.
At the end of the day, what the supercharger did was allow a Harley to keep just ahead of a bike about ONE THIRD of its capacity.
600cc vs 1700cc. LOL.
But I know who was having the most fun.
****-eating grin: priceless.
Just the fact that the OP is running a blown engine and sounds like he knows his stuff and how to ride it will eat most idiots on a rocket for a few lights.
Id give my left nut to ride that torque monster for an hour.
Does it have a little green light shaped like a leaf that comes on when your getting your peak fuel millage?

If you have a transmission torque does not matter because we can change gears to keep the engine running in it's optimum power band. Again, the difference between torque and HP is thus:
1) torque is the static rotational force on the output shaft of the engine at an engine speed specified by the person doing the measurement. Normally when you see a torque figure quoted it is the MAX torque but is not really helpful at predicting performance until you see at what engine speed it is generated at. Any engine that can exceed 5252 RPM will produce more max HP than max torque. An engine that red lines before this will have a higher torque figure than max HP.
2) HP is the amount of work an engine can do - accelerate a bike, drive a water pump, etc.
When it comes to acceleration only one figure matters, all other things like rider skill being equal, HP per pound of weight. HP and torque are not different measurements but the same measurement. HP however includes RPM which is important in determining how much work the engine can do and how it will feel at the rear axle.
I think that the OP has an awesome motorcycle, and a cool story. Thank you for posting. To those who would bring up the cost discrepancy between this awesome one-of-a-kind machine and a crotch rocket - why do you ride an HD in the first place?

yeah, that would be great Mike. Get a hold of me a couple days before you want to go riding and we will go out cruising
