This thread reminds me of the woman who filed a complaint on a guy who used the term "crotch rocket" at work. She had colorful ideas about what it meant and thought that she had been harassed. Some women just have filthy minds I guess...
Sgod, I don't doubt it happened the way you said it did. As stated a few times already...there will always be detractors looking to prove you wrong.
My biggest disappointment with this entire thread, is that no one saw anything else besides a Sportster in the below pic!!!! It sure it is a sweet looking bike, but the girl with those legs....DANG!!!
Ps. Duecedog, how did you convince Wolverine to pose with your bike???? Just kidding of course.....nice bike man!!!

Did anyone notice the oil cooler? I made it out of the coil assembly from a truck power steering cooler.

yes, i know, crotch rockets have the top speed and the cornering won no doubt, but in the straights i don't think so....
I'd like to see you line up against the likes of the Duc 1198, Ninja ZX-10r, Hayabusa and ZX-14. Those are all putting down over 180hp, iirc. It'll be less at the wheel, but they're lighter.
Or a turbo busa or zx-14. You'd have to go back to the engine shop before you're beating one of those in the straights.
+1 With the numbers he is listing I'd be surprised if he couldn't burn a 600cc sportbike in a straight line.
Forget the HP and look at his tq number folks - thats probably 3X a 600 ricer...4X ?
A stock 600cc RR has almost less than half the torque of a stock HD and can smoke it off the line, in the streets, or in the curves. Engine power doesn't tell the whole story.

when did i ever speak of about beating a turbo busa???? never..frank drago (Dragos bike works) had a turbo busa making 315 whp...there is no way in hell i was going to be able to keep up with that.....not in a million years
yes, i guess if you want to get technical i CAN'T keep up with EVERY SINGLE CROTCH ROCKET OUT THERE....Aside from the busa and ninja, any other STOCK crotch rocket will have problems beating me in the straights
I've seen a couple of races that were lost because crotch rockets couldn't keep the front wheel on the ground - it is either back off or flip over backwards. I guess that could be rider error, but the short wheel base works against them when launching. They sometimes strap the front end suspension down at the drag strip to help with launches.

yeah , i've always wondered why the wheel bases were so short....that's an advantage i have..my front wheel will only lift off the ground a few inches when I'm WOT

nope, you are right, engine power doesn't tell whole story...POWER TO WEIGHT RATIO and skill of driver does...as this was discussed earlier in the thread
