Stage One + Power Commander question
If the bike is running well, why add something that can break?
I personally don't see the value unless you are willing to have it dyno tuned by someone that knows that add on. Otherwise you are trading one set of issues for another.
How does a reply get posted before the question? This forum needs work.

First off I have a 2006 Heritage Classic fuel injected , when bought new from dealer they had python staggered and air filter changed out and they said it has stage one. I changed pipes the other day to V&H longshots with their stock baffels. The motor runs great and on 100 degree day the oil temp hits 225. My question after reading many posts is would it pay to get the Power Commander also. Don't know if their adjustments are even better than stage one alone. Just trying to get input from people that are more familuar with this than myself.
Contact the guys at FuelMoto. Seriously.
If you have a stage 1 intake and aftermarket pipes already, you will not believe the difference the tuner will make. Not only will it release the power that those add-ons you already have on the bike are capable of delivering, it will improve the smoothness of the power delivery, cool down the engine operating temps, and in many cases, will even add a few MPG to the mix.
For $250 delivered with a semi-custom map (set-up to your bikes specifications) loaded, you can not go wrong. Keith at Fuel Moto is a great guy and very helpful. His "canned" maps will get you 95% of the max power possible with your engine/add-on configuration.
A full dyno tune could get you that last 5% but will cost you an extra $300 or so to get it.

+1 on tracey. If this is ALL you're gonna do, and it seems ok, let it go. If you're getting decel pop and this is still all you're gonna do, my humble suggestion is a Dobeck DFO. Very easy to use, very simple, no downloads or maps. i used one til I put in bigger cams with plans for more later. It was great. I suggest this for anyone that is JUST doing intake and exhaust.
