I bought a speedo-tach combo for the wife's Deluxe. The dealer asked me how many mile to put on it when I ordered it. These are pre-set from the factory, and they won't tell the dealers how to do it. I think that is a good practice, because if they knew how to, they could roll back the odometers on any used bikes. This just keeps things more honest.
Looking at the destructions, it doesn't loook to difficult.
The tach on my combo speedo/tach doesn't read right and swings erratically and out of range with the RPMs. This was installed by the dealer as an upgrade (I paid extra for) on my 2004 Heritage Softail Classic when the original speedo was replaced under warranty because it had moisture in it. It worked perfectly for the first 13 years I had it installed.
The problem seemed to start after I washed the bike. I checked all of the connections to the speedo/tach. I suspect that maybe the water did something to the electronics.
Does anyone know what I could try, what might be causing this, or where I can send the speedo/tach to be fixed.
Any help in solving this problem would be greatly appreciated.
