Well, I traded my Sporty for a 2012 Heritage Classic today. I'm blaming uklauren LOL. Yes, Lauren, I saw you traded your's at the 1000 mile checkup. Well, at least I made it to 2500! Actually, I should have bought the Heritage up front, but I didn't argue hard enough and my wife limited my expenditure. This time I whined liked a little boy and got my way! She's probably shaking her head and thinking 31 years married is too much time put in to get rid of me now ...I know it's not my looks or money.
Seriously though, thank you, Lauren. That Heritage you traded up to looked so good and I knew I wanted a bigger bike. When I saw yours, I decided that was what I wanted. The ride is night and day difference and my wife actually said "wow" when she sat on the pillion.
Of course I can never again ask for anything more than a gum ball, but I'm a happy camper.
And, yes, Dickey, I know your thoughts on marriage and women LOL. Guess I'm whipped
This is what happens when you let your wife make your decisions !
I have been considering changing from my 1200 XLC (2008) but being an old guy, am concerned about the weight of the Heritage - - am also considering the Switchback, but I like the looks of the Heritage and can get a used one much cheaper than the new Switchback.
What was you bigest problem with the bigger bike? And how did you overcome it?
The dealer has offered me a test ride.
Thanks,
Balloo
63 here and had ours for 5+ yrs now..
IMO its the best of all 9 of the bikes I've owned for our style of riding.
Sit's low and rides great and the Ergo of the bars and seat is perfect for me.
Plus the balance of her is easy to keep up..
I've rode RK's, Street Glds and one Ultra.. just me but, I'll still take a Heritage..
..
Your gonna love your new Heritage! Mine rides a 100 times better than my old Shovelhead and now the Shovel only goes to shows close to home. The Heritage you can ride all day!!! Enjoy!!!!
Not trying to steal the thread, just give it a little bump...
I too just traded in a sporty on a '12 Heritage. What an awesome bike.
I know the color is a love/hate thing, but my wife and I both love it.

Wow, that orange really looks nice...especially with the stripped down look.
PowerDude, I like the look. I thought my wife would really go for the orange, but she was so-so on it. So, with her ambivalence and the extra $800+, I decided to get the black instead. If it had only been a couple hundred difference, I probable would have gone with the orange. The dealer said a lot of folks were opting for it this year.
And I'm definitely in love with the Heritage. The ride is SWEET!!

Balloo - take the test drive. You'll get used to the weight really quickly if you notice it at all. I just traded in my 2007 1200XL for a 2012 FLSTC. By far, the largest difference is the acceleration (lack thereof) with the Heritage 103. I also rented one to get some extended test-drive time. Be sure to use your HOG discount when renting. Good luck!
