I have covers and recently lost an axle cover. I ordered some new ones that were a bit different than the last pair. They don't travel up the swingarm as far as the others and there is actually a gap when you can see the black swingarm underneath. Just another mistake where I actually liked the outcome. It certainly looks different and it is just perfect to me.
Definitely go with the chrome swing arm. If you install it yourself it doesn't cost much more than the covers. I just finished installing a chrome swing arm on my Fatboy a few weeks ago. If I can do it anyone can. I'm an awful mechanic.
