Default Free Softail Slim license plate mod

Some of you have probably already figured this out, but here it is for the rest. I love my slim but hate the way the tag sticks out so far. I found that if you separate the outer piece of the tag bracket (it's two pieces for those of you who haven't seen one) from the piece attached to the light end, you can flip the tag sideways. The bolt holes line up perfect and the size is right on.

Less than a minute of time and zero dollars later.....

According to Florida law the plate has to be seen from the rear and can read from right to left or top to bottom.

I tried that when I first got my Slim, I even made a curved mounting plate out of a piece of stainless. In Va. the plate needs to be horizontal so I put it back, I like the way it looks though.

I took the whole mount off, removed the upper belt guard, and installed the mount to the tab on the upper swingarm. free relocation and turned the tag on its side like you mentioned. side bag tucks in right behind it. looks great.
