Crazy Monster Build thread
Thanx for the info. I am gonna get some guys over here to take a look. Worse comes to worse I will put the stock rear end on and make it a bobber. Will still look great I think. I just dont want to give up so quick on this set up.
I could bolt the stock rear end on and rip it around for a few weeks, then take a look at the primary over the winter???

Now that is what I am talkin about!!! I have been stressed all day thinkin this rear end will be a no-go after a lot of time and effort. Like I said, some dudes I know know some other dudes who are really harley heads and they are are gonna look at it. If it is as simple as gettin a 1/2" or 3/4" or 1" offset kit, I should be on the road in a week or so!!
**I'm not giving you a pass on that spring seat, throw it in the garbage!**
I am just having a problem visualizing how the sprocket moves out behind that inner primary plate.
Anyway, I went in the garage and looked at the primary. I have been looking at the offset primary kits on ebay. I see how they have those two plates that come in the kit. I think I understand that one of those plates / spacers goes between the motor and the inner primary plate. The other plate / spacer goes between the tranny and the back half of the inner primary plate, therefore moving the primary out from the motor and tranny the same thickness as the plates / spacers in the kit.
So I went into the garage and slid the inner primary plate on the bike. I left a one inch gap between the inner primary plate and the motor and tranny, basically where those spacer plates would go. I then looked at the "tunnel", "channel" whatever you want to call it, where the chain would run. It is directly lined up with the chain run line on the swinger. I think I just need a 3/4" or 1" offset primary kit and offset sprocket..............I think.
Oh, and thanx for that link, I will check them out.
Sorry Branner, too busy with trying to make this thing roll, the seat stays for now.
So thanx everybody.
I dont know if I mentioned it, but to mock up the bike for these pics I used a big hose clamp to attach the lower shock linkage to the frame. Remember I never build the lower shackle yet. Hey, maybe I will just use the hose clamp?? Should do fine at highway speeds!!!!
