This is the shackle I designed to attach the CBR shock linkage to the frame. I cant take credit for the welds, had a pro do it.

Since the shackle sits so low on that frame cross member I asked the guy to weld in this big three inch support.

To correct (raise) the ride hieght, I removed the CBR dog bones and made these out of 1/4" steel, about an inch and half shorter than the original ones. I was going to bring the CBR dog bones to the welder and have him cut out an inch and weld them back together. I think I am gonna just stay with the steel ones. They have to be way stronger thatn thos thin CBR ones, so why pay the welder??

Why did I post these pics......I dont know, its Sunday night, its cold and I am bored!!!

I've seen idlers for the chain, might be something to consider for that droop you got going there. Bike is better than before with that tank and the adjusted ride height. Better be careful or you're gonna end up on TV!!!

Chain was not adjusted in that pic. The axle was all the way forward in the swinger. Cranked the chain adjusters back and the chain is good now. I thought I may have to trim a link out of the chain at first, but it adjusted up fine.

Chain was adjusted in this pic, nice and straight.

Thanx for the comps

I was wondering if you had thought about adding some triangle pieces that would go under the frame cross member and connect to the shackle? I'm sure it's strong but if it was me I'd probably feel better know there was a little more surface area connecting those two pieces. Just a thought.

I did want to say that you've done a great job with this build and when you've got it done you should send in some pics to some magazines and see if the publish them.

Like the way the rebuild turned out, the primary really brings it all together. The bike flows a lot better and has more of a consistent theme. Well done man!!

Thanx fat1,

I was cruissin the custom fighter forum today and a saw a mod on a bike that I think will look pretty good on the monster. Gonna buy some materials tomorrow (super cheap) and begin some measurements and fabbing. May take a couple weeks to get it togehter (due to outside factors) but I will post some pics during the process.

Cleaned off the CB today. She has been awfully neglected since I started building the monster. Side cover blew off on the highway a few weeks back. What the hell do ya need side covers for anyway????

The monster rests for the winter. With the holidays and everything else, the motivation has been flagging for sure!!! Gonna get back in the garage next week (with a heater I hope) and get some detail work done. Have to cover up / clean up the wiring around the front of the tank and figure out a little cover for the ignition. Some updates to come.

Really cool! Was beginning to wonder if you had fallen off the edge of the earth.

Nahhhhh, just drinkin egg nog!!!

I think I am gonna ride the bike over to welder and have him tack a couple of tabs to the swinger so I can mount this fender. I have to make a little brace for the back end also, like a loop going from one side of the axle to the other, ya know, like on a bicycle to support the back end of the fender. I bought a small steel rod, just have to make it work and look good.

Just layin on the wheel, but you get the idea
