Thanks for the tip Sgt_Jim.
The throttle body rocks around a bit until the bolts are tight. If I need to rotate it up or down doesn't really matter as long as I know.
Thanks for the kind comment on the two-tone look. I like it, but all my taste is in my mouth!
Oh, yeah. I ordered some NGK Iridium spark plugs from Rocky Mountain ATV/MC yesterday morning. Got them today! Just incredible. Big props to them.
Makes sense on the TB. Did you install it with new gaskets? Mine didn't look worn out, but it's a pain to take that part off, so I was just curious.
I am starting to wonder if adding the compression releases was really needed. I think the FM kit has about 10:1 CR, but at our altitude, the cold compression rate is lower still...might have to call FM in the morning to change that.
for $100, it's not a bad investment.. I had mine done because I heard in the engine section of these forums that the HD starter will burn out with bigger motors, and the compression releases will help keep the starter good for at least a little while longer. better to have and not need than to need and not have.
Yes, I replaced the intake gaskets. Just have to work them around a bit to break them loose. Took me a few minutes to get it. I'll poke around it a bit tomorrow to see if something jumps out at me.
I'm going without compression releases for now. Scott at Hillside said I am bumping against the limit as to when they would be necessary at 9.8-1. I went to that BadBoyz calculator and came up with a 156 ccp number which seems awfully low. But I'm not too smart in that area and probably entered a couple wrong numbers.

Thoughts?
its recommended to install compression releases at CR of 10:1 or greater saves the starter especially with hot engine / weather starts. 100.00 is cheap insurance / piece of mind IMHO. my heads are getting them with my level B work. they should be shipping them to me tomorrow, hopefully.
Since I didn't have any head work done, (I know, I know), I wasn't going to do just the releases. If I manage to find some silver '06 and newer heads I'll probably get mechanical releases installed when I have those worked over.
are you guys referring to corrected compression or static compression?
QC how did you clean up your headbolts?
I found a set of outer ones on ebay i might just pick up
Scotch Brite and a buffing wheel.
My outer ones didn't need hardly any work. The inners were pretty messy. Specially the one by the exhaust port. I imagine you're seeing the same thing.
Yeah, i can try to get a picture. You never were able to see the headbolts since i had the chrome spark plug covers. but since i will be installing compression releases i cannot use them. Therefore they will be showing.
