I wrote to Custom Dynamics and for my '13 FXS, they said I needed the GEN200-KIT-CAN. They say it's easy to install and sent a diagram of the connector...no cutting or splicing. I'm concerned about if I do it myself, will it void my warranty? And if I can short something out? And are they really that easy?
Is there a video of this installation?
I'd like to add a FENDER mount stop/run light but I'm not sure it's possible.

Their GEN200-KIT-CAN is a plug-n-play install.
Remove your bulbs and plug these in. And since they say you need the "CAN" kit, you're probably going to need the "CAN-adapter" - another $5.
That just taps right between your brake circuit and ground, so the bike doesn't think you burned out a lamp - the LED loads are next to nothing.
There's no reason why changing lamps should void your warranty...
I just added this same kit to a Slim, AND a CD LED brake light.
Thanks a ton Jam! That really helps. Now, if I could just convince my wife, the money is worth the safety-ness of having them.
Jam is the man! He helped me out as well. IMHO, the CD website needs to be
a little more clear on what is necessary for the CAN-bus equipped bikes. They
could add the CAN-adapter to their "all-in-one" kit for instance...
From what I've seen, the LED's are indeed a great safety improvement. Tell the
wife you need them since you've removed those reflectors on the rear fender &
front fork...
Glad I could help - and they are definitely worth it.
Especially adding the extra brake light.
I decided to add the LED turns after I saw how bright the light bar was, as I didn't want it overpowering my bullets.
I'm telling ya, the damn things are so bright from behind, that in running mode it looks like my brake lights are already on.
Then you hit 'em and it's "OMFG...!!"
No question, one of my favorite (and most useful) mods so far...

Well...I haven't and won't take the reflectors off. She'd see that! And from the link they sent, the CAN-adapter looks to be included.

I know they're bright. But for some reason...now get this...she said she'd rather I got pipes, than lights! $1500 vs. $150??? I don't get it.
Anyway, Thanks to both of you. I just might TELL her I'm getting them!

well, there ya go, if you're gonna spend $1,500, what's another $150?
just tell her it's tax...
..and just out of curiosity, what kind of pipes are we talking about?
$1,500 sounds like they're nice already.
/apologies in advance for the hi-jack...

PM-ing you Jam.
Umm... yeah, I would like some new pipes as well. Mind sending me the
link too? Not sure I can justify $1,500 just yet though. Thats alot of coin...
