I am 5'11" and I have the tall windsheild and i look ight at the top and it is distracting but my head doesnt get moved around. If you head is above the windshield as with a short one doesnt your head get bounced around?
Dave Deluxe... Do you know what brand and model of windshield you have? After a l-o-n-g conversation with National Cycle yesterday it appears that if you are much over 6' you are out of luck with a standard, off the shelf windshied (from them anyway), but I did get the names of some 'custom' shops...
I have a standard size windshield on my Heritage, I look thru it and I'm 5'7" -- My head doesn't get bounced all around with the taller shield -- in my opinion it works well for my size since the shorter version bounced my head around which was a pain!
I purchased the lower windshield when I bought my Deluxe. I rode the bike home from the dealer with the windshield on, (about 15km), took it straight off and replaced it with the full-sized shield. I am only 5'3" and the shorter shield was right in my field of vision, which is very off-putting, not to mention potentially dangerous. With the full-sized screen, I am well and truly looking through it instead of over it. I personally find this a much better option, especially for lighter riders, i guess. No buffeting at all and, in the rain, you are a lot more protected.
Keep riding and stay safe
Thanks to everyone for the input, I think I'll go with the suggestion for the taller screen and take it from there. I'll let you know what I think once I've tried it for a little bit.

Any of you guys have experience with National Cycle windshields? I received mine yesterday and knew as soon as I took it out of the box something didn't look right... It is 3" shorter and 1-1/2" wider than the brochure and schematic... It is going to be sent back, but is there that much tolerance in the heights and widths or did I just get the wrong windshield in the right box?
UPDATE
Well, I sent an email with photos to NC and received the below response:
Hello David,
For some reason our windshield dimensions seem to fluctuate in different catalogs.
The true measurement of the Touring Heavy Duty shield is:
H: 20" with 1"-1.5" adjustability depending on bike (the window around the headlight can be lowered to fill the gap to the headlight)
W: 22.25" at its widest point
The Touring Heavy Duty shield is our tallest shield. Unfortunately, we don't have a shield available that is 24" high. Your best bet may be to set the windshield at its highest possible setting...you may get 22+" inches from the headlight cutout to the top of the shield.
