Anyone Running A Chain Final Drive Conversion On 2007 Up Softy
Going to do a final drive chain conversion. Zippers is not a direct bolt in and 3 guys doesn't have the gear ratio in wanting. Any other options out there? Going on a 2009 XBones???
Yes...
And don't ya know it? It's an '09 Crossbones! It's a Tsubaki chain rolling on PBI sprockets. The Crossbones is going to need a 3/4" offset sprocket in the primary, and a rear drive pulley spacer. My parts were somewhere in the $500 range...
I put a chain on my Rocker this year. Only have about 500 miles on it as it keeps snowing here. Works fine, and gave me the room I needed. I added 2 teeth to the back and like the extra pull.
I like knowing that there is no chance of that 20mm belt snapping under the torque this beast produces. I like knowing that that torque will reliably reach the pavement. I also like the added character the chain provides the bike in profile. I can't hear it as I ride down the road, or maybe I just don't notice it. 2000+ miles on the build so far (the chain conversion was done at the same time), and I'm convinced it was money well spent. Good luck with your conversion. You'll probably be just as happy as I am.
I also used a PBI sprocket and Sub chain on my Bad Boy. I made my own chain drive setup.
to clear a 170 tire on a duce wheel that i put on. I had a 1 1/4" narrow belt, but i
broke 3 belts. way to much work replacing them.
