Finished up installing a Trask intercooled turbo system with a Thundermax ecm on my 2010 crossbones conversion project this past week and after a week of riding and letting the auto tune dial it in all I can say is WOW, The bike Dyno'd out at 121HP and 124TQ...not bad for a stock 96 on pump gas and dollar for dollar a much better deal for HP then the other big bore builds Ive done in the past. The system is a pretty straight forward install that took about a full day at a leisurely pace, the folks at Trask where always available for questions and install tips which made it that much more enjoyable of an install. Fit and finish is world class clean and and very well thought out over the other turbo kits Ive installed on other vehicles Ive owned. This bike will power wheelie 2nd and 3rd gear with very little effort and the thunder max ecm is amazing and smooth even when not on the boost, sure wish I would have bought one years ago when i built out my old RK instead of wasting my money on power commanders. The only Thunder max complaint would be that the 6th gear indicator light doesnt work but from I understand I just need to do some more speedo calibrating config stuff within the software. Next on the to do list is wheels....18 rear 21 front...have lowering rockers in hand just need to sort out what wheels.
I agree sharkfinn, ive always wanted a go pro camera and this might be a good time to pick one up. Cant have the wife help with a video as I told her this was all for added MPG...
Shane I like the way you think, Ive had a few NOS bikes and cars in my day and its fun to just hit the "Button" and hold on....that option just might be a future add-on but of course would require some serious crank case upgrades
I have to agree with HoggyMtnBreakdown. I really like those number's you got on the Dyno but I'm not sure I would want that big thing bolted on to my bike. I'm not saying I don't like your bike only that thats not for me or my style of bike. Of course now seeing one up close and personal in chrome might change my mind somehow or another too. It just looks too big and it really has no lines to it to accent or match up on a bike. Good luck and I would like to see more pictures too. Good luck Dude.
Scott here are a few garage shots...i will post more during todays ride. I bought this bike from the original owner at 4500 miles who did a crappy rear fender conversion and some other half *** mods and then lost interest in the bike so I was able to pick it up for a song to say the least, Ive always been a springer front end fan but wanted a current tech bike with 6 speed trans and a 96ci engine but didn't want to pay CVO model prices, Ive always liked the crossbones denim paint scheme but what a pain in the *** to keep up. Since then ive replaced the rear fender with stock and removed the solo sprung seat with a HD sidekick seat. Chubby drag bars powder coated black which they dont offer so I did a tear down on the internal bushings and rebuilt them in black powder coat numerous electric corrections and a speedo/tach HD combo, flush gas cap and gauge, full engine covers, rockers etc in black powder coats and numerous bits and pieces in black as well. Next is new wheels...21 front and 18 rear most likely blacked out fat spokes and a completely new full length dash similar to what is offered on the new blackline bikes. Still really like the denim paint look but there might be a new paint scheme in the future....who new flat paint would be such a pain in the ***.
Tony much to my surprise nothing extends wider then the original air cleaner so bulky would be an overkill. Im not trying to convince the skeptical just sharing my experience, to each his own brother.
