I'm in the process of doing this now, and it started raining lol. I'm more comfortable now, and I wrote down a lot of things and I'm keeping the list with me.

I can't break loose the bolt holding the toe lever. I was able to break the heal one loose, but obviously I'll need to get the other out too.

I first tried to just use brake cleaner and liquid wrench to unbind it, but that didn't work, so I'm moving forward to this part. Hopefully, after I get these off, I can clean it, grease it, and it works fine after that (HOPING!!).

So I rode with a friend today, which was awesome btw! Anyways, he was taking his bike to a mechanic that does all his work for him. He mentioned my shifting problem to this guy, and he took a look at it. Within a few mins, he asked how long it was doing it etc. I explained about it being picked up from the dealership after they did some work, etc. He was kinda shaking his head and said there is no way they should have let the bike leave their shop in that condition. The spring is definitely broken.

So I called them up a couple hours ago, and I'm bringing it back to them to fix it. The service guy said he was hoping that lubing it up would fix it, but they were afraid that it wasn't.

Was afraid of that. Don't know how old your bike is, but that isn't too common of a problem anymore. H-D redesigned the spring so they wouldn't break at least as often. Was this something that should have been fixed before?

That sucks, sounds like the service guy tried the easiest fix first, lube it. Hope you back on the road soon.

I imagine they should have at least checked it. They had the bike for three weeks.

That's what it sounds like. In three weeks though, they should have realized that the lube fix wasn't working.

I dunno, as long as the go in and take care of it.

Just an update:

Got a call from the Harley service department and was told someone will be coming in to look at it on Monday. So, they've had it two weeks, and nothing has been done yet.

Just as an update.

So, after having the bike over a month, they finally torn the transmission apart, and said there was a lot of rust in there, and that's why the shifter won't return, and corporate approved of it being fixed/replaced. It will cost me $100, and they aren't sure when they will get all the parts they need. So..

That's where I am now. They've had it for 45 days, and it's likely going to take even longer till I'm able to ride it again. I check on it weekly.

Any suggestions?
