So I know there are a lot of threads on wheel and tire fitment, but none regarding stock night trains pre-200mm. I have an 02 with the stock rim and 150mm rear tire. I would really like to go up to a 160, but am unsure if the rim will handle it. Im pretty sure I can re-rig the quick-release rear seat bolts to fit the tire. My concern is the rim and any spacer adjustments. (oh and its lowered about 2" in the rear) Any advice/answers are appreciated. Thanks
I had a 160 rear on my 05 before this last tire change. It was the Metz me880, and was a manufacturer recommended upgrade. Different brands will be slightly different in size, so some may work and others may not. I can say for certain, the 160 Metz 880 fit my 05 with 2" lowering bolts. I didn't need to change anything to make it fit, the dealer installed it and all was good.
Don't bother trying to browse the train thread, there are more posts in there than the whole section combined! Just pop in, say hey, post some pics, and ask the question. It's more just a bunch of train owners shootin the **** at this point, and a few pics to keep the mods happy! lol

Thanks jreichart! Thats exactly what i needed. And once i get it all put back together, i'll be sure to put some pics up in the thread.
I am not sure, you may want to research the offset on your hub.
An 02 Nightrain actually came with a 130mm rear tire. a 150mm tire will fit but close. In 03 they changed the hub offset, which allows a better fit.
So what does that mean? I have an Avon 150mm rear tire that is actually 158mm. It would not fit if I was running a 2002 wheel, but will fit with a 2003-06 wheel.
Also, research the actual tire size, many 150mm tires are not 150mm, some are 130-160mm, which explains why some sometimes a 150mm tire fits with some wheels and wont fit with others.
I hope that makes since to you, because it is confusing to me.
I had no idea about that until now, tlb. Thanks! It's got a 150mm on it right now, can't remember what brand (pretty sure its whatever HD uses) i'll post back once I check it tonight.
I thought the tire looked a bit large anyways. I just know that my buddy has an 06 Deuce with a 160 and its visibly wider and a LOT more comfortable and stable imo.
And hogpro, I was hoping to stay away from getting a new rims just yet, since they are really expensive. I want a spoked rear wheel but dont have $700-900 laying around for one. The difference in stock 130mm and the current 150mm on that rim may be why it feels less responsive than the deuce. (also the 2" drop doesn't help that...)
