Installing my Vance and Hines 2 into 2 on my new breakout. Ordered my Service Manual but will not be here for another week.
Can one of you give me the torque specs for the flange bolts? This would be greatly appreciated. Will post pics after words. Also installed a Roland Sands Design air cleaner as well.
I just put my V&H Big Radius on today. I just made sure they were tight.... no where in the instuctions does it tell you. I would make sure there tight.... start it and check for leaks... you'll hear it if its leaking.
Mine are the Vance and Hines-Big Radius-2 into 2-Chrome. I had to wait 2 months for mine, due to back order status. I liked the jagged look that the pipes had, with the sharp ends on the tips of the muffler.
Will upload pics and sound clip after installation. Love seeing all the Breakout upgrade pics on the site.
Looking forward to hearing these. Was going to pull the trigger this week but I'll wait to hear yours. I gutted my cat today but had to also knock out the center block off but I did put the baffle back in. It's louder which is what I was looking for but not sure if it has that "tuned" sound. I want to hear yours to compare.
The HD Macon GA service department told me to tighten and put loctite on and I would be good.
I'm thinkin' loctite is great for plenty of things, but probably not exhaust bolts or studs. For loctited parts, if it doesn't come apart with normal hand tools, the typical removal procedure is to apply heat. The heat required is usually well below the "glow in the dark" realm that an exhaust can reach under slightly more than normal operating conditions.
Loctite is gone during the test ride on those bolts.
The Moco manual is the most valuable tool you will ever buy for your bike.
Mine says the exhaust flange bolts should be 15' lbs. Not very tight if you ask me. Perhaps that is why they also say to check them ever 10000 miles or so.

Snug the lower ones first, then tighten upper ones to 15 ft-lbs, then the lower ones. Ride to heat cycle them, then re-torque.
