I'm wanting to remove the rear seat and the plastic coating from the fender to ride solo (90% of the time) but not sure what to do to protect the fender when I add it back to ride two up.
The paint protection (clear plastic) looks like crap (air bubbles) when I ride solo but I don't want to scratch or burn the fender if I ride two up without the clear plastic.
Any suggestions?
I saved a vinyl/ paper backing from a large decal I had. I peeled off the clear fender protector and stuck in on the decal backing. If my wife ever decides to ride with me I have the protector ready at hand.
I believe HD sells replacements though if you need one later.
You can purchase a rear fender bib to cover the protector also.
Hot hair dryer to get the old rubber/plastic protector off. Keep it around and slap in back on under the rear seat. Comes right off next time. Use mine like this many, many times and it sticks just enough to keep from sliding off, but pulls right off afterwards.
