Default oil capacity ?

how much does the bike take on a filter and oil change? the book says no more than 3.5 qt. i only got 2 qt in and it was full?

Mine takes3 qts. I drain and refill it while it is level on the jack.

does anyone get 3.5 in i get 2.75 to 3 in i use a jack and drain and empty it on the jack

i did the same. still only got 2 in. i did do it cold? maybe more would have drained out if i warmed it up????????????

Some of the oil remains in the engine with type of system. I think it is called sumping or something.

You should get only about 2.8 - 3 qts.in. I put 3 full quarts in mine on my first service and was blowing oil out the vent hose b/c it was too full. I keep mine at about 75% on the Full HOT range marker.Some oil does remain in the engine as mentioned above.

YOU SHOULD WARM THE OIL UP FIRST THEN DRAIN IT,I BELIEVE THE MANUAL SAID THAT

If you drain it cold, a lot of old oil will still be in the engine. Always drain the oil HOT

It's called scavenging. Check this web site for information about it. http://www.roguechopper.com/ Recommended by my mech when I went from dino to full syn oil.
